Getting Access to DOE Email & Data

In NYC community schools, data is at the heart of strategic decision making regarding student and community needs. NYC community schools use data for continuous improvement to collaboratively plan student interventions and services, track progress, and shine a light on issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Community school directors (CSDs) need a DOE email address/account in order to access important platforms such as DOE Insight and the New Visions Portal, which display academic and attendance data.

Principals request a DOE account via Person Not on Budget (PNOB) for the CSD in Galaxy. Principals can visit this DOE InfoHub site and follow instructions under “Request a CSD Account” to initiate the process.

In addition to the e-Confidentiality Agreement that the CSD signs when the Principal takes steps in Galaxy, the CSD must also sign the below forms (see instructions in the documents for where to send the completed forms):

Accessing DOE Insight

Once CSDs have their DOE email address, they can visit this site to access DOE Insight

Accessing the New Visions Portal

Once CSDs have their DOE email address, they can email New Visions directly to get access to the New Visions Portal for their school site. Typically, access is granted within 24 hours.

CSDs can email schoolsupport@newvisions.org with the following information:

  • Full name

  • School DBN

  • Role (e.g. community school director)

  • DOE email address
