The Assets & Needs Assessment
The Assets & Needs (A&N) Assessment is a tool that helps your school identify assets and unmet needs in the school and surrounding community. It will also support you to assess which elements of the community school strategy are being implemented, and to establish any action steps your team would like to take.
The A&N Assessment helps NYC schools:
Identify assets and needs in the school and the community.
Build an inventory of existing and potential partners in the surrounding community.
Collaboratively set goals and develop a plan to accomplish them.
Align with the Community School strategy and requirements.
Prepare to complete the annual Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP).
The assessment includes three sections. Each section ends with goal-setting and action planning:
Community School Strategy: School-Based Programs and Services
Community Mapping
NYC Community School Requirements
